As part of the 7th year of the “Ladies in the Shoe” Tap Conference, Dormeshia Tap Collective and 92NY proudly present a live tap dance performance celebrating the artistry and achievements of women in tap, taking place at Buttenweiser Hall in NYC on March 5th & 6th.​

We invite female choreographers to submit choreography or improvography for consideration. While choreography must be created by women, dancers of all genders are welcome to perform and participate in the accompanying classes. Selected artists will have the opportunity to showcase their work as part of this special program, celebrating the extraordinary women whose contributions continue to shape and elevate the tap dance tradition.

Submission deadline: Sunday, Nov 30, 2025
Number of dancers: 1–8 dancers
Performance length: 3–5 minutes
Music: All genres welcome (no explicit lyrics)

 

Video submission guidelines

Create your video:

• ​The dancers in the video must be those performing the piece, if selected.

• Find a location with a wood floor, good lighting, and ample space for your routine.

• Ensure the camera angle captures your full body and showcases your footwork.

• Double-check that your tap sounds are clear and audible. Consider recording multiple takes to ensure the best quality.

• Footage from a previous performance is acceptable, as long as the tap sounds are clear.

• If you’d like to highlight a specific section, note the time code on the submission form.

 

Upload your video:

• Upload your video to YouTube and mark it as “unlisted.”

• Grant access to “ladiesintheshoetapconference [at] gmail [dot] com” so we can view your submission.

• Copy and paste the unlisted YouTube link into the "Video Submission Form" when prompted.

 

Note: Please make sure to include a YouTube link to view the video of dancers performing your choreography. Applications will not be considered without this link and all requested information. Thank you!

Tech rehearsals & run of show: Thurs, March 5, 2026 (exact schedule TBD)
Performances: Thurs, March 5 & Sat, March 6, 2026, 7pm
Tap Conference classes: Sat, March 7 & Sun, Mar 8, 2026

 

Additional Requirements: All performers must be available for tech rehearsal and the performances on March 5 & 6, 2026. All selected performers must register for the 2-Day Bundle and participate in the class portion of the “Ladies in the Shoe” Tap Conference on March 7 & 8.
